Ideal

Texel is an island of space, peace and nature. You'll find a wide variation of landscapes, such as dunes, beaches, woods and polders: the ideal environment to explore with your four legged friend. This varied environment means that the wildlife is vulnerable. For example the breeding and foraging birds, rabbits and Scottish Highlanders. Texel is a sheep farming island and there are many sheep grazing in the meadows on the island.

Important information

In order to protect our natural island, dogs need to be kept on a lead in certain areas. The municipality of Texels’ policy is to restrict the number of areas where dogs are to be kept on a lead, to a bare minimum, and to restrict the rules to only a certain time of the year. The relevant areas are nature and dune areas and parts of de Hors nature reserve. Dogs should also be kept on a lead on beaches where life guards are active, and on nudist beaches.

In all other areas, dogs should be under strict control, which means it comes to you as soon as it is called.

Thanks in advance for your consideration!
