Holiday home
On this site you will find holiday homes on holiday parks and by private landlords. Many holiday homes on holiday parks are privately owned. This means that they can be furnished in a variety of ways, possibly differing from the photo. The holiday homes are of the same standard and are of equal quality. In the text you can read what is (not) included and find information about time and date of arrival/ departure, discounts etc.
Caravan/chalet
Caravans and chalets are found on holiday parks and also by private landlords. You can read more information over where they are situated in the text.
Group accommodation
The group accommodations are diverse and suitable for various groups such as: schools, company breaks etc. The facilities and the possible group sizes are stated in the text.
Camping
This is usually a camping pitch, generally situated on a campsite. The campsites differ in size and facilities. The text describes the facilities and whether additional activities are organised. Almost all campsites have sanitary facilities which all guest share, but some campsites offer private sanitary facilities.
Bed and breakfast
If you choose for bed and breakfast then you generally choose to stay in a privately owned house. This often means sharing the bathroom with other guests or with the owners. This sort of accommodation results in relatively a lot of contact with the landlord.
Pets
It is not always permitted to bring pets into holiday accommodation. You should state upon booking if you intend to bring your pet(s). The following conditions usually apply:
- You bring a basket or blanket with you for your pet to sleep on in the living room.
- No pets are allowed in the dining room.
- Pets must not be left home alone.
- Some companies/ landlords ask a surcharge for pets.
- Where pets are allowed in the accommodation there is usually a maximum number of pets permitted; this is stated in the accommodation text.
Booking procedure and payment
Accommodation you can book online
When reaching a travel agreement, a sum (down payment) shall be paid equal to 15% of the total agreed rent plus reservation cost and eventual assurance costs and articles you have ordered. Deviating payment stipulations in case of short term bookings will be communicated during the booking.
The eventual remainder of the fare must be paid within the terms mentioned on the booking confirmation. A traveller who does not pay on time is in default. He will be notified in writing or by e-mail by, or in the name of, the tour operator, after which he still has the possibility to pay the amount owing within seven days. If the payment is then still missing, the agreement is considered as being cancelled on the default day. The tour operator is entitled to charge the cancellation costs owed. This being the case, the stipulations of Article 9 of the Travel Conditions become applicable and the previously paid monies shall be taken into account when determining the cancellation charge.
Accommodation which can be booked on request
Once you have completed the booking procedure your request will be sent. You will receive a reply within 1 working day stating whether the booking is possible. You will receive notice if your request has been accepted. Then you will receive a message from the landlord stating when the various payments have to be paid.
When is the booking definite/no right of withdrawal (cooling-off period)
An agreement with the Texel Tourist Information is made online via this website when the main booker, after agreeing to the terms and conditions and after finalizing his/ her booking details, receives a message on the screen that the booking has been completed.
The Texel Tourist Information sends the main booker a confirmation by email directly after booking. The confirmation is expected to have reached the main booker by the time that he/she could have read the message, or by the time that he/she should have realistically been able to read the message.
We would like to emphasize the fact that bookings made by mail are definitive bookings. The so-called ‘cooling off period', which is legally termed ‘distance purchase' is not applicable to holidays booked via our site.
Discounts
The prevailing discounts are displayed in the booking form on the website. At the time of the booking it is not possible to combine different discounts. Only one discount will be selected, whichever is the most beneficial. No further discounts will be calculated with a last minute or early bird booking discount.
Reservation charges
The reservation charges amount to a maximum of €15 per online booking; there's a surcharge of € 5 for a booking by phone. The reservation charges for a booking through a third party (e.g. a travel agency) amount to € 25 per booking.
Tourist tax
Gemeente Texel (the Texel municipality) charges a tourist tax per person per night. In 2013 the amount is € 1,60 per person per night with a maxim of 7 consecutive days. In the holiday accommodation text you can read whether or not the tourist tax is included in the price or if you have to pay this separately.
Do students on school trips have to pay tourist tax?
