My Texel

Green paths are open again

16 August 2010

The breeding season 2010 in the National Park Dunes of Texel is nearing its end. There are still a few birds sitting on eggs for a second attempt and some adult birds are still feeding their young.

Now that the breeding season is nearly over, Staatsbosbeheer once again opens the so-called ‘green paths' on the 16th of August. These footpaths are marked with green poles in the National Park Dunes of Texel. Only the path behind De Geul will remain closed until the 1st of September because of its proximity to the spoonbill colony. There are many birds still present here, in need of rest before starting their long migration which reaches as far as Mauritania.
