Texel ideal spot to recharge this summer
04 March 2012
The Texel ferry terminal in Den Helder has been proclaimed the ideal spot to recharge in summer by the E-laad electric car charging station foundation. The prize was a public charging station for electric cars. The initial steps to install the station at the ferry terminal in Den Helder as early as this summer, have been taken.
In the summer of 2011, the E-laad foundation organized a competition titled: ‘In search of the most special, most beautiful spot with an urgent need for a charging station for electric cars’.
Recharging in the Wadden area
The first prize in the category Water* was won by the ferry terminal in Den Helder, from where you take the ferry to the island of Texel. Texel already has several charging stations, so taking your electric car across, will be no problem at all.
What a nice thought to be able to do a quick recharge, whilst waiting for the ferry to Texel, where you can continue your holiday without having to worry about running low. The jury panel: "This is a symbolic location for all other ports with ferries departing to the Wadden Islands. Coming home from the Wadden clean, quiet and recharged, is the future".
*) The other three prize winners are the Drielandenpunt near Vaals (category Amusement and attraction parks), and the Postbank in National Park De Hoge Veluwe (category Nature).
