Unusual Accommodation

You can now book Unusual Accommodation directly online via the VVV Texel website. For example an original nomadic ‘Yurt' tent. This stylish accommodation under the starry Texel sky is an unforgettable experience.

The website of the Texel Tourist Information (VVV Texel) is regularly updated. For example, all information for families  is now shown on one page. A complete overview of the most fun trips and tips on the island. We also offer the unique service of a separate starting page  for those with a physical disability.

Texel campsites receive high score

Campsite De Krim is now recognized as an ANWB Euro Top Campsite! Euro Top Campsites are the best ANWB recognized campsites in Europe, due to their unique locations, excellent sanitary facilities, many extra's and the good hospitality. There are 72 Euro Top Campsites in Europe, 22 of which are in The Netherlands and only one of which is on a Wadden Sea Island: the campsite of De Krim.

De Razende Bol near De Koog was named ‘Farm Campsite of the Year' by the association of Farm Campsites in The Netherlands. The owners Marieke Kooiman en Monique den Braven run a campsite with 10 pitches alongside their flower bulb nursery. The owners are fountains of local knowledge and give guided walks in the nature reserves. They are sociable and join in beachcombing expeditions with their guests.

New exposition

Lifelike submarine dive
From the middle of February visitors of the Maritime and Beachcombing Museum can enter a centuries old submarine and experience what it would have been like to dive in the Wadden Sea, looking for a richly loaded wreck. You feel and see that you are descending under water amidst the fishes, down to the seabed. You can even hear the voice of the captain during this exciting undersea adventure.

The seal sanctuary at Ecomare is presently so full with young seals that even hotel baths have been borrowed in order to house them al!

 

11 February and 18 March: The International Holland Music Sessions. Classical concerts by international top talent in the church of Den Hoorn. On the program are highlights from the violin, cello and piano repertoire. Book your ticket online for the 11th of February and/or the 18th of March.

Between February and the end of June the 500 sheep on the Rozenhout farm will be lambing, with an expected 1000 lambs. Visitors are welcome every afternoon for lamb cuddling.

17 April: Musical cycle route. Five high quality concerts will be given in old churches across the island, including a string quartet, poetry accompanied by Jiddish music and a piano recital. The locations are linked by a 25 km long cycle route past fields of sheep and lambs.

6-8 Aug.: Body & Brain
10-12 Sept.: Texel Culinair
