Adjustments Beach
Accessibility and parking
You will find disabled parking spaces at diverse beaches. Those with a disabled parking license can park their car on a disabled parking space at beach Paal 9, 12, 17, 20 and 28.
Those wishing to travel to the beach by wheelchair can, for example, visit Paal 9 where the road to the beach is not too steep. The cycle path to this beach is relatively flat and is wide enough to enable other cycle path users to pass. There is no cycle path to the beach at Paal 17, but the road here is not too steep. The beach restaurants at Paal 9, 17 and 28 are easily accessible, but only beach Paal 9 and Paal 28 have an adapted toilet. The beach at Paal 28 is accessible via a cycle path through gently sloping terrain and the path to the beach leads over a high dune.
In some cases an individual dispensation can be issued for driving right up to the beach at Paal 9, 17, 20, 21 and 28. This is issued per name and licence plate and is not valid for parking but only for picking-up and dropping-off. For more information about this dispensation please contact the Texel municipality Postbox 200, 1790 AE Den Burg, tel. +31(0)222-362121.

Wheelchair ramps
Wheelchair users can reach the sea at the beaches Paal 9, 17, 20, 21 and 28. Ramps are laid at these beaches between Ascension Day in May and the autumn half term. These ramps lead from the road by the beach restaurant, down to the hard, wet sand. Wind and water can make these ramps less accessible at certain times.
Beach wheelchairs
Beach wheelchairs are available for use on the island. These specially adapted beach wheelchairs can be borrowed between the middle of April and the end of October at the kiosks (with tarmac paths), and all year round at the beaches 17, 20, 28 and 33. The beach wheelchair is only for use on the beach and in the sea.
These beach wheelchairs, with their large plastic wheels, cannot be wheeled independently. The maximum use is 2 hours, in return for a voluntary charge for maintenance. The Texel municipality maintains the chairs and stores them inside in the winter.
