Texel begins at Ecomare!
Ecomare, center for wadden and North Sea, lies in the National Park Dunes of Texel and contains:
- a visitors center with information about nature and culture on Texel (also for the National Park)
- the first seal sanctuary in the Netherlands, with a permanent group of seals
- a regional bird sanctuary for victims of oil slicks and other confrontations
- a museum with extensive expositions
- an underground sea aquarium with large marine aquariums
- a center for nature and environmental education, with excursions and nature programs
- an information center for the wadden, coast and the North Sea

Guided Tour of the Brewery 

The educational tour of the brewery begins with a short film which gives an impression of how Texel beer is brewed. Then you visit the brewery with the red copper brew house, the yeast cell, the cooling cellar en the bottling department. Here you'll hear the enthusiastic tale of how Texel beer originated, after which you'll be able to enjoy four Texel beers in special tasting glasses in the tasting room. The best way to experience the true Texel feeling!

For the children there is a special play corner with cartoons and there are chalk boards for making wall drawings. Dogs are allowed on the terrace and in the tasting rooms but not in the brewery itself.

The Texel Brewery tasting room is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 13.30 and 18.00. The guided tour lasts for three quarters of an hour. No alcohol is served to under 16's. Book your guided tour with the Texelse Bierbrouwerij.

Texel Mushroom Nursery Guided Tour

The Texelse Paddestoelenkwekerij (Mushroom nursery) focuses on traditional growing. In the nursery in the Texel countryside the mushrooms are grown by hand. Pure organic. You'll taste the difference!
The Texel Shiitakes can be bought at a number of sales points on the island.

During the guided tour you'll learn about these aromatic Shiitake mushrooms, about the traditional growing method on sawdust blocks and about the culinary use of these mushrooms in the kitchen. These fresh Texel mushrooms are also on sale here. Guided tours are organised on Wednesday and Saturday and can be booked online via the Texel Tourist Information.

Searching for oysters with the Texel Oyster Man: and finding them!!

During this 1½  hour long guided walk along the Wadden Sea side of Texel we'll show you just how plentiful the oysters on the Wad mudflats are. Alongside oysters there is a large chance of finding cockles and periwinkles. We'll tell you all about the oyster and you will of course also be able to taste the oysters; accompanied by a glass of bubbly and a slice of bread. You can also learn how to open  oysters yourself. 

Oyster walking trip 17,50 Euros per person (minimum of 10 people).
