Texel is the ideal destination for school camps and primary school outings. For children it is not only visiting an island which is special. Texel also has much to offer, including the unique environment and history and many activities which are only possible here. You can choose from a large number of educational programmes and fun attractions. There are plenty of suitable groups accommodations, also for schools.
The prices are very reasonable: for example a school trip from Amsterdam costs only € 19.90 p.p.
Educational programmes
Ecomare is the centre for Wadden and North Sea and the seal sanctuary is also located here. The centre offers primary schools a large range of field work programmes about the rich natural and cultural world on the island and also makes bookings for group excursions from Staatsbosbeheer (The Dutch Forestry Commission) and de Waddenvereniging (Wadden society). There are various school programmes for primary and secondary schools and universities.
The Maritime & Beachcombing Museum has 3 specific school programmes. See www.texelsmaritiem.nl for prizes and programmes.
In addition the Aviation and Wartime museum, the Cultural Historical Museum, The Shipwreck and Beachcombing museum, visitors farm De Lindehoeve, amongst others, give guided tours for groups and schools. See Musea for more information.
Price examples
School camp on Texel for € 75 p.p.
A school camp for 5 days (4 nights) from Amsterdam costs on average € 75,- p.p. This includes travel, accommodation, bicycle and entrance to Ecomare (price based on 50 persons). This is the cost for self-catering. In the youth hostel of Stayokay the price is about € 32.50 p.p.p.n., including breakfast and a warm meal.
School groups can hire a bicycle for € 8.50 p.p. for three days and do not have to pay tourist tax.
School trip to Texel for € 19.90 p.p.
For example we offer a school trip for a day from Amsterdam. Including all transport, a visit to Ecomare and the Texel beach and this costs only € 19,90 p.p. (based on a group of 50 persons).

Schools exempt from tourist tax!
Texel is good value for money for schools! Schools are not required to pay tourist tax when visiting Texel. The Texel Municipality has decided that schools visiting Texel for a school trip or work week are exempt from paying tourist tax.
