Summer on Texel
Sunshine and freedom; no commitments yet so much to do on Texel! Relaxation on the beach, swimming in the sea. Finishing your day watching the sunset from the terrace of one of the beach pavilions...Take a look at our summer tips:
- In summer, the blossoms of millions of wild orchids can be admired on Texel. Not only in nature reserves, but also just on the side of the road.
- Special salt tolerant plants, such as sea asters and thrift, transform De Slufter during the summer months into a lilac and purple colored marshland.
- Pay a visit to the spoonbill colony. These migrating birds can be found in the biggest colony of the Netherlands, on Texel, until mid July.
Texel has 30 kilometers of beach. The seawater quality is excellent and during peak season life guards are patrolling the eight most popular beaches. Read more about the Texel beaches.
