Texel in the half-term holidays

31 January 2020

Even if you take a break in early spring, people of all ages will find plenty of exciting things to do here on Texel! The half-term holiday is the perfect time for a few days on Texel.

Visit Texel in the half-term holidays!

We have selected a few of the best tips for a holiday in early spring here:

Visit a museum

Ecomare and Kaap Skil have a host of extra activities for children. Flora, the maritime and shipwreck museum invites kids to follow the treasure hunt through the museum. Or why not climb the top of the lighthouse for the amazing views?

Visit a farm

Visit Wezenspyk Cheese Farm and find out how they make Texel cheese. Even more importantly: you can sample the cheese here too! Labora Ice-Cream Farm will be open and selling its delicious ice-creams in mid-February. Texel Sheep Farm cordially invites you to come and cuddle their lambs; they’ll be waiting for you from 15 February onwards!

De Bonte Belevenis

There’s lots of fun for the whole family to be had here! Bake your own bread, make candles or soap or go on a tour in the brewery and distillery. De Bonte Belevenis Estate welcomes everyone again from 11 February onwards.

Brush away those cobwebs!

Take a walk among the dunes, across the broad expanses of Texel’s beaches or through the woods. And don’t forget to stop and to admire Texel’s snowdrops. A great favourite among very young children is the Sommeltjespad; they can hunt for Texel’s Sommeltjes – gnomesas they explore the woods.
