On Texel, at Easter, the meadows will be full of bouncy lambs and most trees and plants will be covered in buds. Easter is a wonderful time to holiday on Texel!
You can go for a walk in the country, hunt for Easter eggs among the dunes or take a bike ride to see the island’s famous lambs. Spring on Texel is spring in its full glory.
The Little Lambs Bike Trail guides you to some of Texel’s most beautiful spots, where the meadows are filled with lambs. If you think lambs are lovely, you could cuddle them: well, here’s your chance. At Texel Sheep Farm, lambs are born in almost every month of the year.
On Easter Monday, walking club Het Gouden Boltje organises the Little Lamb Walk, a route leading you past meadows full of lambs, schapenboeten (characteristic wooden sheds for hay) and tuinwallen (a traditional form of fencing made from sods of grass).
Enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the Durper Spring Market in De Cocksdorp on the Saturday before Easter, where you will find stalls selling all sorts of things, and a range of entertainment. If you like rummaging around for second-hand bargains, visit the Car Boot Sale in De Koog on Easter Monday.
Go on a wildlife excursion! Our tip for a spring getaway: visit the natural wildlife area of De Geul to see the largest colony of spoonbills in the Netherlands. You can book the excursion “Roaming around the bird colonies in De Geul” via Ecomare.
Why not visit one of Texel’s museums? Go back in time at Museum Waelstee or learn more about the history of aviation on Texel and the Georgian Uprising at the recently renovated Aviation and War Museum.
