De Vrije Vogel has two farmhouse rooms. Both Farmers' Rooms are on the ground floor. The Milkmaid room offers a view of the curious dairy cows. The room has a double king-size bed, bathroom with rain shower and separate toilet. De Boerenkamer Melkmeisje has a private terrace. The room has a spacious sitting area with TV, dining area and kitchenette with coffee/tea facilities, fridge with freezer compartment and combination microwave. You can also use all facilities on the campsite.

The farmhouse and special room to spend the night is centrally located between the farmlands and 4 villages, Den Burg, Oudeschild, Oosterend and De Waal. At the foot of the Hoge Berg nature reserve. In this green area you can walk and cycle between sheep sheds and typical Texel garden walls of stacked turf. De Vrije Vogel is a dairy farm next to a characteristic bell-jar farm. Grazing cows that provide us with super healthy milk. The fishing village of Oudeschild is 2 kilometers away. This village is home to the Texel fishing fleet and has an irresistible appeal with its sturdy charm. Several ships depart from the port for a trip across the Wadden Sea. In the vicinity you will also find the Texel beer brewery and the Zelfpluktuin.

In consultation you can watch the milking of the cows with the milking robot. Bicycles can be rented in Oudeschild. With us you can enjoy Texel country life in all its facets and seasons. Enjoy the buzz on our dairy farm. The cows that graze around the door, the many species of birds and meadow birds in the tree girth and the herb-rich grassland. The village of Oudeschild is within walking distance. With a bakery for delicious sandwiches and butter croissants for breakfast. Delicious in combination with the fresh milk and eggs from our farm. You will also find beautiful regional products in the fine shops of Oudeschild, great for a tasty lunch or drink. This is a ‘ZoTexels’ accommodation. Geweldige kamer met uitzicht naar de stal waar de koeien staan en ook gemolken worden. Alles is heel netjes en de voorzieningen zijn prima. Koffie, tee, koelkast, magnetron, eierkoker waar verse eitjes van de boerderij gekookt kunnen worden.

Texel is a vibrant island. There are many activities throughout the year. Unique sports events, culinary activities to the best music festivals. Of course a visit to famous scenic spots such as the Slufter nature reserve, the Lighthouse and Ecomare are more than worthwhile.
