Saturday 21 May, 2022 The Sterrenfietsen Foundation is holding a new Johnny Rep Ronde van Texel on the island. It raises money for the Tesselhuus in De Koog and for the food bank in Den Burg. The recreational tour, which has been held since 2014, is named after footballer (Soccerplayer) Johnny Rep, who played in the 1974 and 1978 World Cup finals with the Dutch team twice and played for Ajax, Feyenoord, Valencia and Saint-Etienne. Rep is regularly on Texel and usually rides the tour named after him. Distances are 45, 70 and 115 kilometers. Start and finish are at Van der Valk on the Pelikaanweg near De Koog. All the highlights of the island are passed, the participants cycle straight through the most varied landscape in the Netherlands. More about the new Johnny Rep Ronde van Texel and the charities can be found at www.rondevantexel.nl where participants can also register.
