Saturday, May 9, 2026 Lifeboat Day is an annual event where rescue stations in the Netherlands open their doors to the public. On this day, donors have the unique opportunity to sail on the KNRM's Alies and Evert Floor lifeboat and gain insight into the important work the volunteers perform. As a donor to the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM), you can enjoy an exciting boat trip. Non-donors can become donors that day and sail along immediately. It's a great opportunity to meet the rescuers behind the scenes, ask questions, and learn more about the techniques and technologies used to save lives at sea. In the boathouse, you'll also find a stall with fun and new KNRM merchandise from the rescue shop, which you can use to support the rescue work. Everyone who cares about the KNRM and is interested is welcome! The KNRM rescues people and animals in distress at sea and inland waterways. We've been doing this voluntarily, selflessly, and independently since 1824. 365 days a year. Opening hours: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

During the boat trip, donors are required to wear a life jacket, which is provided by the crew. There are also life jackets for children. Children can only sail along under adult supervision. Unfortunately, sailing along is not guaranteed. It depends on the weather conditions and crowds or possibly a real alarm.
