Concert in the Maartenskerk

Sunday 24 April 2022 The Friends of the Maartenskerk Texel Foundation is organizing an afternoon concert in the Maartenskerk. The hard trumpet (Marc Bakker) and the soft flute (Eveline Drevel) play together with the organ (Arie Abbenes). Due to its varied composition, the organ can easily adapt to both sound worlds. During the concert, all the possibilities of the beautiful Maartenskerk organ from 1730 will be discussed. The compositions are introduced with a clear explanation by Phili Abbenes. Time: 3 pm, walk-in with coffee/tea from 2.30 pm. Entrance: € 10,- free soft drink/snack during the break.

Maartenskerk

This protestant church is located in the middle of Oosterend. The Maartenskerk dates from the eleventh century and is therefore the oldest church on the island. Open The church can be visited from May to October. You can then receive an explanation about the church and there is an opportunity to light a candle and take a moment of rest and meditation. Historic Area The church is the center of a village with many old houses. It is worth walking through Oosterend on foot and to see the historic buildings.
