Hello, my name is Anouk and through this page I will keep you informed today with relevant and current information about the corona virus and tourism on Texel. You can also check out our: Coronavirus FAQ page

VVV Texel has close contact with the Municipality of Texel, the Texel entrepreneur platform and TESO, so that we can share developments quickly.

The last news:

Monday, May 18, 2020 - 04.58 PM

  • From May 21, Ascension Day, a temporary bicycle ban will apply in the shopping streets in Den Burg and Dorpsstraat in De Koog. The ban applies between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • From Ascension Day it is also forbidden to park bicycles in the passages between the Weverstraat and the Achterom in Den Burg and in the passages between the Nikadel and the Dorpsstraat in De Koog. Texel residents and tourists can park their bicycles at one of the public bicycle sheds in the centers of Den Burg and De Koog.

Info for traveling to Texel

There is currently no travel ban for the Netherlands, including Texel. This also applies to foreign guests. Read more information about traveling in and to the Netherlands here.

Monday, May 11, 2020 - 02.19 PM

  • TESO further expands the timetable. In recent days, the demand for transport to and from Texel has increased significantly. For this reason, TESO will re-introduce the regular hourly timetable as of Friday 15 May (it was previously announced that this would be the case on 29 May).
  • The office desk on 't Horntje on Texel will reopen on Tuesday 2 June at the usual opening hours.

Update Thursday May 7, 2020 - 16.52

  • From Friday 8 May 2020, TESO will include a number of extra sailings in the timetable, because the number of travelers is rising slightly.
  • From Monday to Friday, a departure from Texel at 3:00 pm and a departure from Den Helder will be added to the timetable at 3:30 pm. As of tomorrow, sailing will again start on Monday and Friday at 9:00 am from Texel and 9:30 am from Den Helder.
  • The ferry service plans to return to the regular timetable on Friday, May 29. This is in response to the government's plans to restore public transport to the normal timetable on 1 June.
  • Passengers who are not in a vehicle are obliged to wear a mask when crossing from 29 May.

Update Tuesday April 7, 2020 - 9.30

  • The border between the Netherlands and Germany will remain open in the near future, but only for necessary border traffic. Unnecessary border traffic is called on both sides of the border to stay at home.
  • Germans who cross the border for a multi-day stay in the Netherlands from Friday 10 April must return to their home quarantine for two weeks when they return to Germany.
  • The border has remained open, because the border regions in the Netherlands and Germany are too intertwined to lock everything there.

Update: Monday, March 23, 2020 - 19:24

  • From Saturday 28 March, TESO will operate according to an adjusted timetable, with fewer crossings. You can view the updated timetable on the special TESO news page.
  • Travelers must remain in their vehicle during the 20-minute crossing and purchase an e-ticket online before departure so that they do not have any contact with other people.
  • Cyclists and pedestrians are asked to spread as much as possible in the salons. On average, about 40 pedestrians and cyclists are taken on board per departure. On the spacious lounge deck (with a surface of over 3,000 m2) it is easy for these passengers to keep 2 meters away from other people.
  • Extensive hygiene measures have been taken on board. The ferry service will not go out of service.
  • These measures guarantee a safe crossing for everyone. All information about travel, measures and the sailing schedule can be found at www.teso.nl.

Update Monday April 20, 2020 - 13.00

Procedures and approach Texel General parctices with regard to Covid-19:

  • General practices now only treat patients who do not have respiratory complaints and / or fever. They try to handle as much as possible by telephone and only when physically necessary to see patients. For tourists, they contact their own doctor as much as possible in case of health complaints. Only if physical assessment is really necessary (eg suture wound or if his own GP thinks it necessary) can he / she report by telephone to one of the Texel GP practices.
  • Patients with respiratory complaints and / or fever: these patients also need to call their own GP in the first instance, only if they deem it necessary that the patient is seen, patients can be seen at a central "cough consultation hour". To do this, first contact one of the Texel GP practices.
  • Contact general practitioners: for urgent purposes, a random number from one of the Texel general practitioners can be dialed. For Corona-related questions, the request is to first call your own GP and the GP can then contact a Texel GP if the patient needs to be seen.
  • The above also applies to evening / night / weekends.

  • Website (s) for reliable information about Covid-19: www.thuisarts.nl; www.rivm.nl

Update Wednesday April 8, 2020 - 13.45

  • Public transport services on Texel have been adapted to limit the spread of the Corona virus. In bus 28 you are requested to board through the back door. It is not possible to buy a single ticket. Therefore, travel with the OV chip card or an e-ticket.
  • Paying with the OV chip card at the Texelhopper vans is no longer responsible. Therefore, until further notice, payment can only be made with the debit card via the SumUp in the Texelhopper vans. There is a temporary rate of € 2 one way. Do you have a subscription? Then you can still travel with the Texelhopper on presentation of the OV chip card.

Update Sunday March 29, 2020 - 17.51

  • The placement and use of beach houses is immediately prohibited. The houses have an attractive effect on people. The locations where beach houses are normally located are designated as a prohibited area. There is no time limit in the regulation.
  • At a number of beach strokes there are temporary beach houses in the parking lots. With the help of a tolerance decision of the college and with the permission of Staatsbosbeheer, the houses can be temporarily placed here until they are allowed on the beach. The number plate for 2020 must be attached to the houses, they must be placed close to each other and the houses must not be serviced. The tolerance decision applies up to four weeks after the emergency ordinance has been lifted. If the beach houses can be placed on the beach again, the business houses will first go to the beach. After two weeks, the private houses can also be reached on the beach.

Update: Wednesday, March 18, 2020 - 17.10

If you do choose to visit nature, please observe the following guidelines: avoid crowded places, always keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters and stay at home if you have flu symptoms.
