6 Texel restaurants in Lekker 500

The Top 500 tastiest restaurants in the Netherlands is out now! This year there are no fewer than 6 Texel restaurants feature in the restaurant guide of the Netherlands.

Michelin-starred restaurant Bij Jef retained its place in the Top 100 and has climbed a few places this year, from position 36 to 34.

The Kook Atelier is this year in the Lekker Top-500 for the first time. Fish Restaurant 't Pakhuus, Bosq Café-Restaurant, Eilandkeuken and Rebecca also received fantastic comments.

Bij Jef has been the Michelin-starred restaurant of Texel since 2009. Head Chef Jef Schuur draws inspiration from home and abroad and uses mostly local ingredients. The jury of the Lekker 500 says: "the flavors sweet, sour and salty are the common thread in all sorts of combinations. That salt fits the Wadden Island and the chef likes to vary".

Kook Atelier, Chef Joram Timmerman has been running this restaurant in Den Burg for 1.5 years. The dishes are inspired by the seasons and what the island has to offer. Last month, the Kook Atelier overall became the winner of the sixteenth edition of Texel Culinair. A good year for this Texel restaurant!

Fish Restaurant 't Pakhuus is praised in the Lekker 500 for the different types of fresh fish. Head Chef Boy Schuiling mostly serves fish and shellfish from the North Sea and Wadden Sea at his restaurant, but meat lovers and vegetarians can also eat very well here.

Restaurant BOSQ is in the restaurant guide for the third time. During Texel Culinair 2019, this restaurant was awarded the first prize for its North Sea crab with sushi rice flan in the 'Best dish' category.

The Eilandkeuken in the center of Den Burg has again secured a place in the Lekker 500. Taste plays the leading role in the kitchen of chef Dewi van der Plaats. According to the jury, it is a culinary gem to keep an eye on!

Rebecca is again in the Lekker 500 this year. Chefs Michel Arends and Leon van Sambeek love the regional cuisine and make trips to Asia and South America on your plate.
