Do you enjoy rummaging around markets? Then Texel is the place to be this week! Because of the autumn school holidays several Texel villages have organised autumn markets. On offer are Texel products, handmade items and curios, displayed against an autumnal backdrop.
On Sunday 20 October, De Waal, the smallest village on the island, kicks things off with its autumn market. From 11:00 to 15:00, you can browse around a proper ‘Waalder’ market. The narrow streets of De Waal will be lined with market stalls offering typical De Waal products and things. Tip: as you rummage around the market, do also look at the historic farms and old houses of De Waal.
Visit the autumn market of Den Burg on Wednesday 23 October. Running from 11:00 to 17:00 in Groeneplaats, this is a market with music, art and activities for young and old. For the children, there is a mini-fair and face-painting. You can also enjoy a variety of autumnal snacks, such as chips made from Texel potatoes from pick-your-own farm De Zelfpluktuin.
On Sunday 20 October you can enjoy a cozy autumn market in the Eierlandsche Huis in De Cocksdorp. On Thursday 24 October, you can stroll around the autumn market of De Cocksdorp. The village centre will be filled with market stalls from 11:00 to 17:00. Make sure to also walk down to the dike at the end of Kikkerstraat. From this dike, you enjoy amazing views of the Wadden Sea! And, situated close to this village is the symbol of Texel, the lighthouse.
