A new festival is coming to Texel in 2019: WAVES! From 19 to 23 June inclusive, the beach at Paal 17 will be a hive of (water) sports and live music activity. The first events and artists are already known!
Throughout the festival, visitors can take part in a range of water and beach activities, from surfing and kitesurfing clinics to beach yoga. Spectators are treated to a sports programme that, apart from the famous Round Texel Race sailing competition, also includes a grand prix foil windsurfing, foil kitesurfing, freestyle kitesurfing and a kitesurf downwinder.
Besides watching or actively taking part in the sports on offer, visitors can also enjoy live music on the beach. With performances by Wulf, La Pegatina, RONDÉ and Jeangu Macrooy. already on the programme and more names to be announced soon.
Dutch windsurfer Dorian van Rijsselberghe is the initiator and festival director of WAVES. Texel-born and double Olympic champion Dorian: "We have developed a new event, combining top water sports with recreational sports, music and activities for real outdoor lovers."
