Many visitors come to Texel for its beautiful beaches. Blowing away the cobwebs in the spring and autumn, soaking up the sun in the summer or sampling the local cuisine at one of the many beach pavilions … The Texel seaside has so much to offer, as the editors of The Guardian also discovered.
The Guardian singled out several European beaches, such as Sicily in Italy, Ikaria in Greece and the Algarve in Portugal. But the ‘winning tip’ is Texel, because of its kilometre-long sandy beach, safe bathing and cosy beach pavilions.
Texel is further praised for its unique natural landscape, many cycling and walking trails, charming little villages and distinctive lighthouse. The short and comfortable ferry crossing also went down well with the editors of The Guardian.
