During the spring break there is much to do on Texel for young and old! It's the perfect time for a relaxing family holiday. Read our tips and discover the island!
Ecomare and Kaap Skil have a host of extra activities for children. Flora, the maritime and shipwreck museum invites kids to follow the treasure hunt through the museum. Or why not climb the top of the lighthouse for the amazing views?
Visit Wezenspyk Cheese Farm and find out how they make Texel cheese. Even more importantly: you can sample the cheese here too! Labora Ice-Cream Farm will be open and selling its delicious ice-creams in mid-February. Texel Sheep Farm cordially invites you to come and cuddle their lambs; they’ll be waiting for you from 15 February onwards!
There’s lots of fun for the whole family to be had here! Bake your own bread, make candles or soap or go on a tour in the brewery and distillery. De Bonte Belevenis Estate welcomes everyone again from 11 February onwards.
Take a walk among the dunes, across the broad expanses of Texel’s beaches or through the woods. And don’t forget to stop and to admire Texel’s snowdrops. A great favourite among very young children is the Sommeltjespad; they can hunt for Texel’s Sommeltjes – gnomes – as they explore the woods.
From sheep cheese to specialty beer: many products are traditionally made on the island. And you want to taste it! You can buy them at many shops, it is even more fun to taste them in the Texel restaurants. View the overview of Texel restaurants and reserve a spot.
