Ecomare organizes a special whale day on Wednesday 24 July with all kinds of extra activities around the whales. With fascinating lectures by researchers, exciting stories about whaling beaches and the Whale Hospital of SOS Dolfijn. There are even two living whales at Ecomare: porpoises, the most common and smallest whale in the North Sea. The versatile program makes the day fun for all ages.
10.30 am Presentation at the harbor porpoises
11.00 am Whale fishing in the North Sea by Mardik Leopold (WMR)
13.00 From whale beaching to a museum piece by Pierre Bonnet (Ecomare)
1.30 pm Presentation at the harbor porpoises
2 pm Whales in the Golden Age by Lizzie Marx (Rijksmuseum)
3.30 pm Ecology & evolution of whales by Jeroen Hoekendijk (NIOZ)
Where: Ecomare, De Koog.
Opening hours: from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. The cash register closes at 4.30 p.m.|
Cost: entrance to the museum.
