Franciska has been working as Island Marketer at VVV Texel since 2024 and shows in a creative way what makes Texel so special, so that everyone can fully enjoy the beautiful island.
‘As Island Marketer, I show why people should visit the island. But things like ensuring spread, encouraging cycling and walking, and promoting Texel entrepreneurs are also important. I write newsletters, create social media posts and online advertisements, and in spring I keep track of the Lamb Radar. I also follow trends and developments, analyse our current content and monitor the content budget. I also work on website optimisation, the app and webcare. The variety of work and working with colleagues on new ideas and projects gives me a lot of energy. The freedom to pick up what you like and what you are good at is what makes this work so special!’
Cycle route: cycle route Rondje Texel! I made this varied 65-kilometre cycle route myself and it is perfect for seeing the best of the island in one day!
Village: Oosterend, cosy village with beautiful old houses. In December the inhabitants decorate their windows with beautiful Christmas and winter themes, then you can stroll through Oosterend and enjoy all the lights.
Texel's word: the other side = the mainland, the rest of the Netherlands. Everyone knows what you're talking about, it's such a standard word, but people from the other side don't understand.
Outing: picking fruit at Food Forest Texel! You can walk around the garden here and pick your own fruit. Nature reserve: De Slufter, this remains a fascinating area to visit.
Texel delicacy: Hoornder ring
Island bird: Spoonbill, with its unique beak.
Island animal: the Texel sheep, especially the happy lambs in spring.
