Texel has seven villages, each with its own character and surrounded by a lot of nature. Centrally located on the island is the ancient village De Waal, about 3 kilometers above Den Burg. The historic houses and farms and tranquility are typical of the historic village. Your holiday home is on the ground floor and first floor of a former farmhouse on the outskirts of the village. Within walking distance of your apartment you will find a restaurant, bike rental and the Cultural History Museum Waelstee. Within 20 minutes cycling you can be on the beach at De Koog or in the harbor of fishing village Oudeschild.

Introducing: Corrie de Jager & Rob Teisman At the beginning of March 2011 we moved to the Waal, at 42 Hogereind. From 1982 to 2011 we operated Hotel Molenbos in De Cocksdorp. Between Christmas and New Year's Eve 2010, however, we unexpectedly quickly sold our hotel to the nearby holiday park De Krim, so that plans gained momentum. We renovated the bell jar, in accordance with the possibilities that this time offers, mainly energy-technical; extra insulation, solar energy and a Heat Back Win installation. Although Corrie was born in Utrecht (1955) and Rob in Groningen (1957), we grew up with Texel from an early age. Corrie spent a lot of time on Texel because of family visits and holidays. Her grandfather Jan de Jager was a schoolteacher on Texel, so father Kees de Jager, astronomer and honorary citizen of Texel, liked to spend the holidays on Texel with his family because Rob celebrated all holidays on Texel from the age of six. We got to know each other in 1975 as holiday workers at Willem Ham's restaurant Loodsmansduin in den Hoorn. At the time, Corrie studied garden architecture in Boskoop and Rob biology in Groningen. At the end of the 1977 season, we felt we had made so much money that we left the studies for what it was and moved into an old Simca Europe. A wanderings of almost a year. Then Willem Ham started operating Hotel de Lindeboom next to Loodsmanduin. He contacted us and asked if we could help him as managers of restaurant Loodsmanduin for a few years. That turned out to be a period of three years, during which we became acquainted with the ins and outs of the hospitality industry. We lived romantically in one of the bunkers on the dune and were not worried about the future. After Willem and his wife Jeltje ceased the exploitation of Loodsmanduin in 1982, we applied at the Recreation Foundation Texel for the position of manager couple of Hotel Café Restaurant Molenbos in the Cocksdorp. The hotel, formerly called Hotel Marinus, had stood empty for three years and was then bought and refurbished by the RST. The plans were grand at the time. After a short operation, the hotel would be replaced by an apartment complex with approximately 120 beds. We opened the doors of the hotel on May 28, 1982. Two years later we were given the opportunity to take over the hotel and become the owners. In 1993 we decided to replace the hotel with a new building and the capacity grew from 30 to 60 beds in 1994. This expansion determined the choice for the hotel as we operated it until 2011, in which the hotel guest is central. Texel hospitality, the peace, space, nature and the cultural values of the island as a permanent basis for the holidays of Texel visitors. Our credo as hoteliers was simple, we tried to realize all the wishes of the guests under the motto "never say no". That principle has made our hotel career a party, with many guests enjoying Texel. After thirty years of entrepreneurship and hospitality involvement, the time had come for us to take a step back and create time for all the interests that concern us outside the hotel business. We have both grown up with sports since childhood. Corrie has been involved in athletics since she was 13. Rob was an ice hockey talent, a sport that lived great in Groningen in those years, with thousands of spectators at every home game of GIJS. Rob even made it to the Dutch Juniors, but a serious knee injury made an end to his dream to study in Canada and try to become an ice hockey professional there. You will stay in the former house of the farm, we ourselves live in the rear part, which was originally the stable. We have called your holiday home Moleneind. This is a combination of the name of the Hotel "Molenbos" and the street where we now live: "Hogereind". Our move to the Waal also meant the end of our involvement with Molenbos. In front of your door are two original pieces of millstone from the original mill, which once stood where the current hotel Molenbos still stands today. Have a nice stay on Texel! Corrie de Jager & Rob Teisman.
Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the mudflats, the dunes, the villages and the beach during the day and be overwhelmed by the darkness that falls over the island at night. The Texel day and night together give an indelible impression of our place in the universe.
