Are you looking for a cozy and small-scale campsite on Texel? At farm campsite De Vrije Vogel you can camp on a cozy field next to our characteristic farmhouse and the associated dairy. All spacious camping pitches have a power supply (10 amps) and are distributed around the field with space in the middle to also sit/lie or play a game. The heated toilet block has a spacious washing/service area, showers and toilets. The family shower/toilet is spacious and suitable for wheelchair users. A refrigerator, freezer and microwave are provided. You can also use a washing machine and dryer for a fee.

Location

Almost a third of Texel consists of nature reserves. In the middle of the island is the Hoge Berg nature reserve, a 15 meter high hill between the villages of Den Burg and Oudeschild. In this green area there are many cycling and walking paths that take you along and between typical Texel garden walls and sheep sheds. De Vrije Vogel farm campsite is centrally located in the countryside between 4 villages on the edge of the Hoge Berg, between meadows with sheep and a meadow bird area. The Waddendijk and Oudeschild are within walking distance of the campsite. Here you will find the home port of the Texel fishing fleet and several tour boats depart for a trip across the Wadden Sea. A bike ride over the dike to De Cocksdorp is highly recommended.

Special about this accommodation

The recreation room/living room is equipped with a TV with digitenne, DVD player, a folder rack and a reading cabinet with magazines and books. For the youth there are go-karts, a large sand heap, volleyball court with table tennis and a kite field. There is a spacious bicycle shed with charging point for electric bicycles. There is a spacious parking lot near the camping field. In consultation you can watch the milking of the cows with the milking robot. This is a ‘ZoTexels’ accommodation. 'ZoTexels' is a network of private accommodations where guests can savour the authentic flavour and hospitality of Texel.

We live with our caretakers Annegeertje, Thijs, Klaas and Riet on the farm De Vrije Vogel. We graze in the meadow as early and as long as possible to produce super healthy quality Wadden milk. We like it when you come to experience and experience life on the farm.
