Beautiful skies and a wonderful view over vast meadows with sheep and lambs; that's what you see when you look around from your camping spot. Here, on one of the oldest parts of Texel, lies Schapenboerderij Westerweg. We have 14 spacious camping spots. With us, every camper has their own pitch that is surrounded by trees on at least three sides. There is a path via the outer tree line to your terrace with picnic table. Enjoy the setting sun during your stay.

Location

Westerweg sheep farm is quietly located among the farmlands, on one of the oldest parts of Texel. The mini campsite offers a panoramic view and is an ideal base for discovering Texel nature. Westerweg sheep farm is located near the forest and dune area on the west side of the island. Beautiful cycling and walking routes run through this vast area with many rare plant species and protected bird species. Behind the dunes, a vast sandy beach awaits you. In the evening you can watch the setting sun here. South of Schapenboerderij Westerweg you will find the picturesque village of Den Hoorn. Typical of the village are the cozy streets, galleries and the famous reformed church with a white tower. The Bonte Belevenis estate is located nearby.

Special about this accommodation

The pitches are equipped with water and electricity connections. Our farm campsite has excellent sanitary facilities. The sanitary room has 3 showers, 2 toilets, 2 sinks and a urinal, not to mention underfloor heating. We also have a spacious washing up area with a large countertop. An oven, microwave and refrigerator with freezer compartment are available for general use. You can use the washing machine and dryer for a fee. You can empty your chemical toilet at the designated location on our own grounds. Also visit our Texel Farm Shop and buy the best products from Texel. We have delicious meat from our own sheep. We also have more real Texel products such as farm dairy, Texel cakes and farm and sheep cheese! This is a ‘ZoTexels’ accommodation. 'ZoTexels' is a network of private accommodations where guests can savour the authentic flavour and hospitality of Texel.

Important to know

Dogs are welcome on the farm - for a small fee - provided they are kept on a lead. If you want to take your horse or pony with you on holiday, please contact us in advance for the possibilities. When booking this campsite, you must indicate the type of camping equipment (maximum 1) with which you are coming to Texel (tent, folding trailer, caravan or camper) in the options. Camping equipment up to 6 meters is allowed, if larger than 6 meters, please consult in advance.

Toller Platz, wir kommen wieder.

Der Platz ist super gelegen. Jeder Platz ist durch Bepflanzung abgetrennt und man hat dadurch viel Privatsphäre. Zusätzlich hat man eine Naturterrasse mit Holz-Sitzkombination. Klasse. Nette Betreiber, sehr hilfsbereit.

Es hat alles gepasst und wir haben uns wunderbar erholt. Die Hecken und Bäume ergeben einen prima Windschutz. Auf dem Platz ging es entspannt und ruhig zu. Der Hofladen hat leckere Produkte zur Auswahl.

Introduce

We - Ido, Pytsje, Fardau and Rixt - have been living with our family at Hoeve Vrij en Blij since April 2021. Farmer Ido manages the sheep breeding with real purebred Texel sheep, white, fur and badger heads. Ido is fanatical about the sheep inspections and the prizes won can be admired in the barn. Pytsje arranges the campsite, holiday home Wambinghe and the Texel Farm Shop. Daughters Fardau (8) and Rixt (5) also love the animals on our farm. If you want to visit the stable, you are most welcome through the entrance of the store. Our Texel Farm Shop is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In our store you will find real Texel products such as dairy, mustard, ice cream, potatoes, Wezenspyk cheese and our own meat. We are especially proud of Wezenspyk's cheese, as we manage the farm together with them. You are very welcome with a tent, caravan or camper. If you come with the camper, we have the request to leave the camper as much as possible because we do not have a paved floor. Pets are also very welcome. Tips from the host

We like to go for a walk with our family in 'De Bollekamer' room. This nature reserve is located behind our campsite. We also like to go to the forest and beach at paal 12.
