‘AF – Terug naar Srebrenica’
Sunday, November 30, 2025 Following the success of his solo theater performance “VOLGENDE X”, actor and theater maker Nico Meurs returns to Texel with a new show. In “AF – Terug naar Srebrenica” (done – Back to Srebrenica), he plays Ben, a former Dutchbatter during the fall of Srebrenica. “If you go back, I'm leaving you,” his wife had warned him. Yet he went... and thirty years later, he has to return to Bosnia. Why? Because for him, it's not “done” yet. 'AF – Back to Srebrenica' touches on current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, raising urgent questions about the role of the military, politics, and society. It is a performance that not only reminds and confronts, but also offers space for humor, music, and lightness. This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
