
August 23, September 27, and October 11, 2026 On three Sunday afternoons, live music will fill De Vermaning, a refuge for the arts in Den Hoorn. You can enjoy three different concerts in the historic hidden church dating back to 1660. On Sunday, August 23, Aya During and Robert Sickmann will present an afternoon full of chansons. On Sunday, September 27, Nel Bruin and Kitty Bakker will perform. More information about this concert will follow. On Sunday, October 11, Moniek de Leeuw and Ibo Bakker will take you on a joyful musical journey. With vocals, violin, and guitar, they will play Gypsy, Ragtime, and Armenian ballads. Their shared love for travel and for discovering and writing music takes center stage in this energetic and playful performance. De Vermaning is nestled in a lush garden behind the houses on the Diek. Due to the garden path and the threshold, the building has limited accessibility for wheelchairs. Pets are not allowed. This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
