Wednesday 4 May 2022 The annual memorial meeting takes place in De Burghtkerk. This is followed by a silent journey to the general cemetery. After a tour of the monuments in the cemetery (the Georgian Tree of Life and the Cross of Sacrifice), there is a two-minute silence at 8 pm. Finally, wreaths and flowers are laid at the De Goede Herder monument. This year's guest speaker is Mrs. Truus Witte, who was born in Amsterdam in 1942 as Rachel Renée Allegro. Her Jewish parents have found a safe place for her with a Catholic childless couple in Zwanenburg. She tells about her life during and after the war. There are also contributions from primary and secondary school pupils and from island poet Fiet van Beek. Dyo Wassink plays the large organ, the Chamber choir of Artex sings and Relinde Jurrius plays the violin. Elina Keijzer accompanies Relinde and the chamber choir. Program: - The church is open from 6.30 pm. - 6.45 pm: Commemorative meeting in De Burght. - 7.30 pm: Silent tour, tour and wreath laying. - 8 pm: Two minutes of silence and wreath laying at the monument 'De Goede Herder'. - 8.15 pm: Closing of the memorial with the singing of two verses of the national anthem.
