Mudflats excursion with Ecomare
Experience the mudflats in the ultimate way! Walk across the seabed and discover the life that lives in the mud. Feel the mud on your feet, smell the distinctive scent, and hear the sounds of birds and the distant water. During this excursion, you'll join a guide from the Wadden Association or Ecomare in search of the animals that live on the mudflats. A truly special experience! Please note: you can only participate if you wear shoes that can stay on in the mudflats (high-top lace-up shoes, surf shoes, or tight-fitting boots). This activity requires a minimum number of participants. If there are not enough participants, you will be notified in advance whether the activity can go ahead. Tip: It's often colder on the mudflats than on land, so bring an extra jacket or sweater. Starting time: depends on the tide. See the calendar with the price overview. The excursion lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Cost: Adults (ages 13 and up) €18.00. Child (up to 12 years) € 12.00. Age: from 7 years.

Location
The excursion starts at the dike monument De Schicht, on the Lancasterdijk east of De Cocksdorp.
Important to know
Age: from 7 years. Tip: bring an extra jacket or sweater and wear shoes that stay on in sticky mud. Dogs are not allowed. Unfortunately, children in a buggy or baby carrier are not allowed. You will be called if the excursion is canceled. The excursion is in Dutch.

A little outside De Koog in the dunes near post 17, you will find nature museum and seal sanctuary Ecomare. Seals If you want to see a seal up close, you can do so at Ecomare. The seals are fed at 11:00 and 15:30. During the feeding, you will be told all about the seals that live at Ecomare. You can also admire other sea animals at Ecomare. The bird sanctuary can be visited and there is a whale hall with skeletons of various whales and dolphins. Nature education There are various exhibitions about the Wadden Sea, the North Sea and nature on Texel. Do you want to experience nature up close? Then book an excursion at Ecomare led by a guide. Work is being done on the roof, but you won't notice anything inside. So don't be put off by the building materials, Ecomare is making things more sustainable!
