Expeditie Mokbaai
Next to the ferry port you will find a kind of mini Wadden Sea: the Mok Bay. At low tide you can walk on the seabed. That bottom is full of creepers! The shellfish, worms and snails are a tasty meal for many birds. Expedition Mokbaai is an active program in which you, just like the birds, look for the animals in the mudflats. We also all pull a large dragnet through the channel. The fish and shrimps have gathered in the water of the trench. Exciting what comes in the net! A short distance outside De Koog in the dunes near paal 17, you will find the nature museum and seal sanctuary Ecomare. seals If you want to see a seal up close, this is possible in Ecomare. The seals are fed at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. During the feeding, everything is told about the seals that live in Ecomare. You can also admire other sea creatures in Ecomare.
