November 20, 2025, to February 13, 2026 Henk Noorlander (1948-2020) worked in the Hoornder Vermaning for almost 30 years. It was his studio, where he could "mess around with paint" to his heart's content. Painting was his passion. He also made drawings and etchings. He became "world famous" on Texel. The work currently on display and for sale in the Vermaning comes from his estate. Much has already been sold or given away... which was his favorite thing to do, because "a painting is only finished when it hangs on a wall somewhere in the home of someone who enjoys looking at it." Messages in bottles were an important "byproduct." A way to share his drawings and etchings along the coast in a playful way. He even named his studio the Texel Institute for the Promotion of Messages in Bottles across the Sea.

This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
