Covered wagon ride Kikkerts Paradise Hoge Berg

Discover the Hoge Berg nature reserve with a covered wagon ride! Coachman Martin has lived here almost his entire life; he has known this unique area since 1959. During the 2.5-hour tour, you will drive over one of the most beautiful parts of Texel, the Hoge Berg. This authentic tour takes you past old farmhouses, beautiful country lanes, and through flocks of sheep. You will visit areas of natural land that are normally off-limits, offering the most beautiful vistas and panoramic views! Along the way, there will be a stop for coffee/tea and a treat. Martin grew up among horses. Back then, there were no tractors, and all the work was done by horse. At 'Kikkertsparadise Puur Texel', they have been breeding Fjord horses, among others, since 1959, and nowadays they occasionally have foals. In addition, Martin and Ellen run a sheep farm and can tell you a lot about it. Days: Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Times: from 14:00 - 16:30. Costs: adult € 25, child 3-12 years € 15, and child under 3 years free. Dogs are allowed upon consultation; please contact VVV Texel for this. It is also possible to book a private tour (max 22 people). Days: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Costs: from € 550. Would you like to rent the entire covered wagon on a different day? This can be arranged; please contact the Texel Tourist Office. Please note: a minimum number of participants applies to this tour. In the event of too few participants or bad weather, you will be informed in advance whether the tour can take place. The explanation is given mainly in Dutch and partly in German/English. There are no tours from the end of February through the end of April. Tickets are available; click on ‘View times’ to book. If this does not work, please call +31 222 314 741 or visit the VVV Texel shop.

Kikkerts Paradise

Kikkerts Paradise

In the beautiful Hoge Berg area, you will find Kikkertsparadise, the starting point for a covered wagon tour across the oldest part of Texel. Unique area Discover this beautiful area from a covered wagon pulled by Fjord horses. A wagon tour offers you the opportunity to discover this sheep area from a different perspective. The tour takes you along country lanes, through meadows, and even through areas where you are normally not allowed to go. The Hoge Berg area is particularly beautiful during the spring, when the lambs are born. If you are an experienced rider, it is possible to ride behind the wagon on the back of a Fjord horse. The tour lasts 2.5 hours, and along the way, there is time for coffee or tea with a treat. Groups Have you planned a party or group outing? It is also possible to take a tour with the 'Puur Texel' covered wagon for this purpose.
