An ode to the diversity of characters such as wallflowers, tantrums, thunderheads and sleepers. This is how Ericka Voortman from Den Burg describes her exhibition 'Groos'. Groos is a collection of 39 barbies dressed in sheep's wool costumes and together forming a still life in the small boutique. The new installation - of which an earlier varia nt was already on view in 2015 during Klifhanger - honors diversity in characters as a counterpoint to the flattening of mankind. "Because we seem to be pretty much on our way to uniform, predictable algorithmic characters," says Ericka. "Homage to sleepers like Joan of Arc." Adding a sound collage by Severin Candel, Ericka hopes to encourage visitors to linger longer in the small boutique and enjoy a moment of "reflection. "Which of these portraits are you yourself?" The wool used at Groos comes from Ruud Bakker's sheep. Ericka sometimes helps him with the lambing, so she really experiences the wool she later works with from the beginning. Groos and Fishwives are on view daily. More information; www.boetvanruud.nl
