Exhibition The container shipping

In Maritiem- en Juttersmuseum Flora you can view the temporary exhibition on container shipping. In recent years, all kinds of things have washed up on the beach on Texel. Including shoes, cosmetics, cigarettes and much more. A lady from Texel knitted a sweater from bales of cotton, which is also on display in the exhibition. Recently the container ship MSC Zoë lost over 300 containers near Terschelling. Various items were also washed ashore on Texel; including children's jackets, car parts and chairs. Some of these items can be seen in the exhibition The container shipping. The exhibition is free for visitors to the museum. Opening hours: daily from 10 am - 5 pm. At Christmas and New Year's Day from 11 am - 4 pm.

Maritiem- en Juttersmuseum Flora

Maritiem- en Juttersmuseum Flora

Come to Maritiem- en Juttersmuseum Flora and experience the tough world of beachcombing, pilotage and rescue and fishing. Visit the first, real and largest beachcombers museum in the world. The heart of the exhibition is a colorful collection of objects that have washed up on the beach of Texel over the past 75 years. The large number of crazy, funny, fun and special attributes will amaze you. The many special objects in our large outdoor area and courtyard are partly fished by Texel North Sea fishermen. Anchors, buoys, rudders and even real aircraft engines! There is also a nice playground for the children with: a play tower, swings, stawip and a cable car of 30 meters long! But there is even more to do for children: a treasure hunt through the museum, various games and you can go in a real rescue pod. And for a cup of coffee or tea, beachcomb biscuits, soft drinks, grilled cheese sandwich, poffertjes or an ice cream, you can visit the museum café or on the cozy terrace. The beachcombers of Flora wish you a warm welcome!
