Ukrainian officer sings
Friday, April 17, 2026 Experience a special performance at De Vermaning with Yuri, a Ukrainian singer who has finally been granted leave after three years as an officer in the army. At the age of sixty, a long-cherished wish is coming true for him: performing in the Netherlands again and doing what he loves most: singing and playing. With his warm, powerful voice, Yuri sings Ukrainian folk songs about nature and love. He accompanies himself on the harmonica. He also sings a few songs together with Joke van der Weide, his Dutch hostess, singer, and choir conductor. Yuri is only in the Netherlands for a few weeks, making this performance on Texel extra special. Location: De Vermaning Time: 7:30 PM Cost: Voluntary contribution (cash only, full proceeds for Yuri) Good to know: Wheelchair accessible, not accessible to pets.

This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
