Marleen Bakker is a painter and has her studio in Den Hoorn. Born and raised on Texel, she moved to Groningen at 17. She has lived on Texel again since 2021. Marleen: "It's wonderful to live in such a beautiful place. As a painter, I'm touched by the light and the vastness of our Dutch coast. The landscape is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me." During the summer months, Marleen enjoys working en plein air. It's quite special to immerse herself in a landscape and capture it on the canvas. Because speed is essential outdoors, she works with a palette knife and oil paint on panel. In the winter months, when the southwesterly wind howls around her farmhouse, she enjoys painting in her studio. She then expresses the summer impressions on large canvases or in miniatures.
