Sunday, October 19, 2025 They call themselves Riet5, hail from Amsterdam, and play a wide variety of instruments, just like their great example, Calefax. The quintet consists of: Jeanine Hamers, oboe; Masha den Hartog, clarinet; Marieke Klomp, saxophone; Vera Dalm, bassoon; and Goos van der Sijde, bass clarinet. We already know Goos from the duo Bar Y Bas. The timbres of the instruments blend beautifully in all kinds of music: from tango to classical, from baroque to jazz. In addition to their own arrangements of existing songs, RIET5 also plays works composed specifically for reed quintet. Everyone is welcome; contributions are voluntary.
