Second Summer Evening Concert in the Waalder Church

Tuesday 5 August 2025 From Tuesday 1 July, the Zomerkerk will be organising a surprising concert every week in one of Texel's beautiful churches, performed by professional musicians. Twelve summer evenings long. Tonight's concert will take place in the Waalderkerk in De Waal. Soprano Marian van der Heide and classical guitarist Rob Nijboer will provide an atmospheric evening. The programme includes arias from the Italian Baroque, colourful Spanish songs by García Lorca and beautiful South American works by composers such as Guastavino, Piazzolla and Mercedes Sosa. There will also be guitar solos by Villa Lobos, Leo Brouwer and Torroba, among others. The concert starts at 20:15. Please take into account a voluntary cash contribution afterwards; there is no PIN option. A contribution makes these concerts possible

Waalderkerk

A modern building in an ancient site. That is the Waalderkerk in De Waal. The church is used by the Protestant congregation. The history The church building was built in 1952, because in 1945 the earlier building was destroyed. The church became a municipal monument in 2020. Organ and cemetery There is an organ in the Waalderkerk, which is completely attuned to the architecture of the church. Next to the church is a cemetery. People who lived in De Waal or De Koog are buried here.
