Maris-kwartet komt naar Texel
Sunday, October 26, 2025 The Maris Quartet, based in The Hague, is highly regarded and praised by classical music lovers. Founded in 1999, its lineup has remained unchanged ever since, consisting of Dana Mihailescu, Brigitte Rebel, Hedwig Smulders, and Frank de Gee. The quartet has performed numerous times in various concert series throughout the country. Music magazine LUISTER awarded one of their CDs a 10. Their repertoire ranges from classical masterpieces to contemporary string quartets, and they always share information about the music during their concerts. At De Vermaning, they will perform: "Amerikaans," String Quartet No. 12 in F major by A. Dvorak; five pieces for string quartet by E. Schulhoff; and—after the intermission—the String Quartet in F major by M. Ravel. The concert is made possible by Project Geestdrift, a collaboration of Mennonite churches in North Holland. This church is well hidden: from the road you have no idea that there is a church on Diek. This is due to its history, De Vermaning was built as a hidden church for the Mennonite congregation. Access through a secret gate The gate of Diek 11 gives you access to the path that takes you to the church. The church is hidden behind a row of houses and in the backyard of Diek 11, as it were. Exhibition space The church is no longer used for services of the Baptist congregation. It is now a place where exhibitions and activities are organized.
