Accompanied by an enthusiastic guide, you'll enjoy a beautiful walk through the Waalenburg nature reserve. This time of year is the perfect place to observe large numbers of wintering birds. The large expanse of wet grassland, the numerous creeks, the tranquility of the area, and the abundance of food offer opportunities for encountering numerous wintering birds. These range from waterfowl such as white-fronted geese and barnacle geese, wigeons, and teals to wading birds like golden plovers and ruffs. Throughout the day, these species are often joined by Bewick's swans and numerous gulls. You also have a chance to see birds of prey, such as peregrine falcons, northern goshawks, and hen harriers. At the Bird Information Centre in De Cocksdorp you are at the right address for information about bird watching, photography and filming on Texel. You can also go here for binoculars and other bird products. Information about birds In the centre you will find all kinds of information about birds. Such as the most recent sightings of birds on the island. In the centre all current sightings are clearly displayed on a large map. There is also an extensive library with bird books. Beautiful bird films are played on the large LCD TVs. And in the display cases there are many stuffed birds, which you can view up close. Shop and excursions In the Bird Information Centre you will also find a shop with nature conservation articles and binoculars. You can go here for good binoculars from Swarovski, Zeiss and Bynolyt. You will receive extensive advice about these. You are also at the right address for bird DVDs, nature books, nest boxes and feeding systems for your garden.
