Maundy Thursday Communion Service
Thursday, April 2, 2026 At Easter, in the church year, there is a week preceding it in which the suffering of Christ is commemorated. In the village church of Den Burg, we connect the stories about this with the lives of people today. On Maundy Thursday, the Last Supper is celebrated at long tables, symbolized by a piece of bread and a small cup of wine, as an image of how Christ lived his life of service to his people until the very end. Leonardo da Vinci once painted an iconic depiction of this scene. Anyone who would like to experience the contemporary version is warmly welcome! De Burght kerk
The large church that you can already see in the wider area of Den Burg is De Burgt church. This is the church of the Protestant congregation. A service is held here on Sundays, the church is also used as a location for events. Climbing the church tower In the summer months, the church tower is open on certain days. From the high tower you get a beautiful view over Den Burg and the surrounding landscape. Event venue The church is regularly the stage for exhibitions, performances and memorial services.
