Visit the Seamen's church
The Zeemanskerk in Oudeschild was inaugurated in 1650. Mainly by sailors who attended Sunday worship. Among them also the famous Dutch naval hero Michiel de Ruyter with his family. Because the influx was so large, the church was expanded in 1740. The interior tells the story of the maritime past of the Zeemanskerk. The church can be visited, if desired you will receive an explanation about the building. You can also take a moment for rest and meditation. Times: the Zeemanskerk in Oudeschild is open for viewing on Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The white church of Oudeschild was built in the 17th century. At that time, many sailors came to church. They anchored their ship off Oudeschild, waiting for a favorable wind. In the 18th century in particular, this church was heavily visited by sailors. Protestant Wadden Region Texel This church is one of the three Protestant churches on Texel. The church can be visited in July and August. Every Thursday the church is open for a short tour and there is room for rest and meditation.
