From Saturday, July 4, beach lifeguards will be back on Texel. The Texel Lifeguard Brigade will be present at the guarded beach sections. Are you going for a swim? Read our tips for safe swimming in the sea first.
The beaches at posts 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, and 28 will be guarded by the Texel Lifeguard Brigade during the summer holidays. The lifeguards will be present when the red-yellow flag is hoisted. This is between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Lifeguarding runs until August 28.
You can contact the lifeguards with questions about safe swimming, jellyfish, rip currents, and other situations on the beach. They also hand out wristbands for children. Put your phone number on them so that you can be reached more quickly if your child gets lost for a moment.
The sea remains unpredictable, even if you are a good swimmer. Pay attention to the flags, follow the lifeguards' instructions, and do not go further into the sea than is safe. Before your beach day, check out our page on safe swimming in the Texel sea, with practical tips on currents, rip currents, and flags.
