
Are you visiting Texel in December? Read on to find out where and when you can best enjoy the Christmas spirit on the island.
Fancy atmospheric lights, warm mulled wine or hot chocolate and some great shopping? Various Christmas markets and winter fairs are organised on Texel. On 20 December, you can visit the nostalgic Christmas market in Oosterend, and on 27 and 28 December, there is a Winter Fair in the Evenementenhal. View the overview of Texel Christmas markets here.
Love Christmas music? Then come and listen to a concert by the Hoornder Smartlappenkoor on 19 December. On Boxing Day, Excelsior will give a Christmas concert in Oosterend. If you like to sing yourself, you can take part in the Christmas Carols singing workshop. The accompanying concert can be heard on 20 December in the Maartenskerk in Oosterend. You can also enjoy an Advent concert by the Maartenscantorij choir and the Hazenhoftrio in the Maartenskerk on 21 December. The Artex pop choir will give Christmas concerts at several locations. For the ultimate Christmas feeling, you can sing Christmas carols under the tree in De Koog on Christmas Eve, accompanied by KTF.
Around Christmas, you can view various nativity scenes on Texel. These bring the Christmas story to life in an atmospheric and accessible way. The nativity scenes have been carefully constructed and are a lovely place to enjoy the December period. You can find them in the Francisca Romanakerk in De Cocksdorp, in the Johannes de Doperkerk in Den Burg and in the Sint Martinuskerk in Oudeschild.
Of course, there will also be plenty of delicious food. How about a Christmas brunch at Restaurant Floris on Boxing Day? Or you can enjoy a delicious theatrical Christmas dinner at De Toegift theatre. A fun activity for the whole family is the Christmas bingo at De Krim.
