Bloemrijk Texel's flower field has been officially opened again. Mayor Mark Pol, together with gardener Vincent Lap, gave the starting signal by symbolically sowing a patch. It is the start of a season full of native flowers, bees and butterflies.
The initiative Bloemrijk Texel is a hobby that got out of hand by Vincent, a young Texel gardener with a love for the island. His aim is to promote biodiversity by sowing a large field near Den Hoorn with native flowers, without the use of artificial fertilisers or fertiliser. The plot, where dunes, arable land and forest meet, can be visited on your own.
Would you like to contribute to this flower initiative yourself? You can! By adopting a square metre, you become the ‘owner’ of a piece of flower field for a year. You will receive a certificate and are welcome to come and pick your own flowers. It is also possible to adopt several square metres or give them as a gift to someone else. In this way, you contribute to biodiversity and make Texel even more beautiful.
