Take part in the Species Challenge! Saturday 24 May 2025 is National Park Day. On this day, the beautiful natural areas of the Netherlands are put in the extra spotlight. Every year, this day has a central theme, and this year it is biodiversity. Young and old can go out together with foresters, guides and other nature lovers to discover the parks and record their findings.
The Species Challenge is a nationwide initiative in which as many plant and animal species as possible are counted in National Parks. And this year, you can also go exploring in Texel Dunes National Park! All findings you submit between 17 and 31 May via the ObsIdentify app or the website waarneming.nl count.
By participating in the Species Challenge, you help map Texel's biodiversity. In this way, you help researchers and managers to understand and protect nature even better. In addition, it is a fun and educational way to experience nature up close.
Besides the Species Challenge, other fun activities are organised to learn even more about nature and what you can discover there. For example, you can board a minibus for an informative bird excursion in Texel Dunes National Park on 24 May. Of course, there are many more fun excursions and activities you can take part in. Check the National Park Dunes of Texel website for the full agenda.
