The tastiest asparagus grow on Texel! Do you think asparagus only grows in the south? Wrong! They also do it on Texel, and how. The salty soil ensures a soft, tender asparagus, which is gaining more and more fame nationally. It actually started as a joke. In more than 25 years, the Texel asparagus cultivation of the Keijser family has become a household name. The knowledge was gained in Limburg and it turned out to be a great success. In May and June you can take a look behind the scenes during one of the guided tours of the company. Bert Keijser takes you into the field and introduces you to all aspects of asparagus cultivation. You can plant them yourself and once back at the farm you can see how the harvest is processed. The company Ruud Boom Catering from Oudeschild with top chef Peter Huisman and his employees is ready to prepare a delicious asparagus menu on the spot, which is consumed in the cozy barn.
