In De Cocksdorp you will find Studio Koopman by visual artist and graphic designer Remko Koopman from Leiden, who recently started working on Texel. In 1998 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, specializing in Graphic and Typographic Design. From 2008 he also focuses on autonomous visual art. Koopman is also the author of art history books. He has several publications to his name, including books about the emergence and development of Graffiti and Street Art in the Netherlands. Specialty Studio Koopman specializes in (typographical) murals, book design, letter design, paintings, drawings and illustrations for books and magazines. Koopman draws inspiration for his autonomous art from (industrial) architecture, science fiction, technology, medical science, biological science and nature. With these ingredients he has developed his own visual language that balances between abstract and figurative. Cartoons Another specialty is drawing comic illustrations (comics/cartoons) that often show a raw edge. Inspiration comes from life in the big city and nowadays life in nature. Professional artist In 2018, Remko Koopman graduated from the AHK (Amsterdam University of the Arts) in BIK, Professional Artist in the Classroom.
