Texel is the ultimate cycling island. Take your own bike, or rent one from any of the many bike-hire outlets on the island. You can choose between normal bikes, electric bikes or bikes for kids. Together with friends of family, Texel is ready and waiting for you to discover it along the many cycle-paths the island features.
There are many wonderful cycling routes on the island. Texel has no less than 140 kilometres of cycle-paths, including plenty of absolutely stunning stretches. Not to be missed is the bike route along the Waddenzee. Here you cycle over the dyke with a view across the water.
The Waalenburgerdijkje between De Koog and Den Burg is also a must. Or experience the pleasure of pedalling past the dune edges near De Koog and Den Hoorn. Along the way you’ll always come across a cosy outdoor café where you can pause and relax. All cycle paths can be found on the Map of Texel, which is available in the store of VVV Texel.
The cycling network couldn’t be easier to use: just follow the signs from one numbered junction to the next. With Texel’s cycling network, you choose your own route and distance.
